The Central County Water Reclamation Facility in Golden Gate City is getting an upgrade that will increase wastewater treatment capacity. Construction will take place from summer 2026 through summer 2029.
When the work is complete, the facility will treat up to 5 million gallons of wastewater per day. This infrastructure improvement will allow the facility to continue serving its current customers, take on additional flow from the south service area, and support future septic-to-sewer conversions in Golden Gate City. These upgrades are an important step in preparing the countywide wastewater system for continued growth and in making service more reliable for all customers.
As part of this project, Collier County Public Utilities will construct a second deep injection well at the facility. Deep injection wells are used to safely dispose of treated wastewater far underground. Because well construction runs around the clock, neighbors may notice noise and lighting at the site, as well as increased truck traffic in the area.
Most construction activities will remain within the facility’s fenced area. There may be times when work occurs outside the fences at the entrances along Tropicana Boulevard. Construction of the deep injection well is expected to be complete in fall 2027.
